Content Gave Visuals Purpose

The marketing agency that was working on the launch of Stingaree Restaurant in San Diego (now Omnia Nightclub) hired me to write a series of ads. I was given the photos that would be in the ads, as well as a list of things they wanted to promote, including their wine selection, their menu, and a Sunday event on the patio. The images themselves were provocative, but it wasn’t clear what that had to do with the restaurant. To help bridge the gap and give meaning to the sexy images, I came up with headlines and short blurbs that connected to the images, while also showing what set the restaurant and club apart from other restaurants.
