Newsletter Invited Neighbors to Events

As a senior writer in University of California, San Diego’s marketing department, my role was to be the managing editor for both a monthly newspaper for more than 26,000 faculty and staff and a quarterly events newsletter for 20,000 San Diegans. For each, I developed story concepts and set the editorial agenda; I reported, researched, wrote, and edited stories and headlines; and I established production schedules and collaborated with writers, designers, printers, and mail houses to meet deadlines.

For the newsletter that went to residences in nearby zip codes, I gathered the details for all of the events for the quarter and researched the ones that may be most interesting for our neighbors to attend. I then researched and wrote short article to highlight the most interesting ones, while writing short blurbs for all of the events, which I laid out in an oversized calendar.
